This pretty flower happens to be in my front yard. I have no idea what it is, but isn't it lovely? When people move out of base housing, other people dig up the nice flowers and bushes and transplant them into their own yard.... this is how this flower got into mine. Several years ago I took our neighbors plant, not knowing what it was, and put it in our garden area. Last year this beautiful flower bloomed, but two days later it fell off and died. So no picture was taken then. This year I made sure I took a picture right away. The plant would have had two flowers on it this year, but when I first saw the bud, I touched it and it fell off. :( So just one flower this time. Anyone know what its called?? I have lots of people in my family with green thumbs....

It looks a like a Day Lily. I've never grown any, but they are pretty popular down here. I think each flower only lasts a day, but you should get more than one or two flowers a year.
We have 3 bunches of Day Lillies around our pond that are all yellow and they only last a day or so. Your plant will multiply each year and get bigger and bigger. We started out with very small plants and they are huge now even though we split them several years ago. Yours is a very pretty color.
