I'm back

Boy am I tired. We had a really long day yesterday. Kendall and I didn't go to bed Monday night till around 1 am and had to be up by 330 am. The flight there was good. We arrived in Minneapolis around 6 am. We got a taxi (wow, crazy drivers!!) and went to the Ronald McDonald house.

I was so surprised at how nice the Ronald McDonald house was. Its 4 houses put together and its HUGE. There are a lot of kitchens on the first floor with free food and pantries stocked to the top. They had an arcade room, game room, gym, basketball court, lots of play areas inside and outside, movie rooms, even a scrapbook room with free supplies! If I go there again I will take some pics to show everyone.

After we spent some time at the house we walked over to the hospital. Its a good thing Kendall came with me because I would have gotten lost. My first appt was with the scheduler, Lisa, to let me know what I was doing for the day. I had my vitals taken for the first time, labs drawn, an EKG, and a few chest x-rays. Then I had a meeting with the social worker who asked me a lot of questions and gave me some info about the process of getting aid for the expenses and what not. After that I think we were released for lunch.

We went out to eat at Noodles and Company. Its a pretty cool pasta place that is more like fast food. I got mac and cheese with chicken which was really good. After that we went back to the house to relax before my next set of appointments.

At 1:10 I had a meeting with the nephrologist and the transplant surgeon. They went over so much, explained the procedure, risks, etc. They asked me questions and I asked them questions. I aslo spoke to the transplant coordinator who told me they will having a meeting next Tuesday and discuss my results and will decided if I am a good donor or not.

After that I had my CTR which is a CT scan of the renal cavity. They get a few pictures of my pelvis, then they give me an IV and put a contrast into the IV so that my arteries and veins are 'highlighted' so they can see everything. Immediately after the dye was injected I got this awful taste in my mouth, my whole body felt like it was on fire, and it felt like I wet my pants. These are all normal by the way. lol. After about 10 seconds the feeling went away, everything was back to normal, and I was done for the day.

The process went very smoothly. I feel very confident in the nephrologist and the surgeon. They are MY doctors and have nothing to do with Tyler. They know of him, but do not handle his care, therefore, they are only looking out for my interest.

After the appointments, Kendall, Tyler, and I went to the mall of America and did some browsing. That place is huge. If you are not aware, there is a theme park in the middle of the mall. About every store that you can think of is in there. We went into a few stores, had some dinner, but didn't have enough time to see the whole mall... not even half the mall.

We got to the airport and met up with Kendall's husband, Keith, and her step-son, Zachary. Keith flew to Alaska to pick up his son and see his daughter graduate high school, they already had the tickets to come back on the 19th. It just happened to be that we were also flying in on the same plane. Kendall and I didn't have our seats next to each other since they were purchased separately. When we asked about seeing if someone would switch tickets she saw that Kendall paid so much for her ticket (for no real reason) and decided to move her up to First class. The lady was so generous and switched my ticket to first class as well. Those seats were really comfy and roomy. As soon as we got on the plane they had water for us and offered me something else to drink. We also got free snacks (I got a banana), pillows, and a blanket. Anyhow, I enjoyed my first class seat very much. I didn't get home till a little after midnight I think.

I am very worn out. I am going to try to nap today while the kids sleep. I hope they both sleep. lol.

I should get the results next week and will update when I find out.

What a day you have had! It will be hard to wait for the results, won't it? I hope this will work out so that you can be able to give this little boy a chance to live a long and happy life. What a wonderful thing you are doing, Lacey!
