I survived! I wasn't thrown from my horse either! The trip was so relaxing, other than my sore butt and legs. But it was peaceful, calming and beautiful. Peaches was my horse and boy did she have a personality. She doesn't like to walk slow and tends to get right up on the horses' butt in front of her. And she didn't like to keep her head still. She flung snot all over me several times too. She was a really good horse though.
We went up and down steep rocky hills, through the trees and grass, and over a few small streams that were low on water. We rode about 8 miles and it took about 3 hrs.
Badlands Trail Rides have been in operation for 36 yrs. Our trail guide started it back then and recently passed it onto her daughter and son-in-law. She said they had over 5000 acres of Badlands. The trail guide's parents homesteaded it way back when. They have places to camp and an RV park. They also have cabins to rent.
The outdoor rec is hosting another one in August and I really want to go again. Maybe I can get James to come with me :)

I'm glad you had a good time and returned safely. Everyone needs a little R&R on a regular basis. Thanks for the pictures.
